When thinking of ways to de-stress, yoga is one of the first ideas that pops into most peoples' minds. Stress is one of the major causes to MS flare ups and symptoms appearing because stress can trigger your body to go into the fight response which can have an affect on the immune system.

Anyone can do yoga, there are different types of yoga and techniques that can suit any individual. There are breathing techniques, adaptive yoga for those affected more physically by MS, and types of meditation that all help relax the mind and body. Yoga can be done by everyone and anyone and that's what makes it so compatible for patients with MS because each person can start their own yoga journey from whatever state their body is currently in. There's no rush or sense of urgency with yoga, it's done at each individual's own pace.

Linked here is an article that goes into more detail about how yoga is good both physically and mentally for MS patients: "How Yoga Can Help Those With Multiple Sclerosis - Physically and Emotionally".

Yoga and MS is all about finding the right instructor, class, or poses that are best suited to making the person feel comfortable and relaxed while dealing with the every day struggles that can come along with having MS.
